Message from the President
The Bunny is coming !! The Bunny is coming !! Easter in March. I don't know why the holidays keep slipping up on me faster and faster. Old age maybe? NAW !!
Get your recorders ready and set them for the ICTN channel on March 27th at 6:30pm,March 28th at 4:30pm.and 8:00pm. or March 29th 5:00pm. and 8:30pm. For A.T. & T Cable people that would be channel 18. Our 60 seconds of fame is set for that timeslot. I have no idea what will or won't be in the final cut so this should be fun. I think the couple that came to film us at the workshop had a good time because she ended up trying her hand at sewing. We're just such a great group that people can't resist us. No bragging just fact !!!
We've got some great workshops planned for this year. I would like all of you to try as many as possible. There are weekday and Saturday workshops so one of these should fit everyone's schedule. A great suggestion for all the friendship groups is to look into taking a quilt shop class you're interested in as a group. Most of the shops will work with a group of people like that and it s almost like having a private lesson but you are with you friends. You can learn some new techniques and use them later on for other quilts.
Don't forget the Angel Quilts. I don't want you to wait until the last minute at Holiday time and have to stress out to get some done. Secret Pals are off to a great start this year. I heard lots of delighted voices at Thursday's meeting. The Dallas Quilt Celebration is in March also. Make plans to go with a friend or give someone a ride so they can enjoy it also. We have lots of timid drivers that miss a lot of fun when all they need is ride. Please Share a Ride !
That's it from me. I was more long winded than I wanted to be. Have a great month and I'll see you at the March meeting.

April Workshop and Speaker
Our speaker for TJ Tamny presenting Grandma's attic to . . Take a walk through 150 years of quilt history and trends. See examples and learn interesting information about quilts and their fabrics. Be inspired by the old and the new.
TJ will teach her own design - Prairie Sunrise Quilt. For a look at this design, a sample is currently hanging at the Old Craft Store in Carrollton. The class fee is and for the pattern. A supply list will be available at the guild meeting.
Her life long love of quilts and fabrics keeps her busy in all areas of quilting. TJ has been quilting for almost 20 years. In 1992, she opened Quilting, etc. (retail quilting supply shop) in Irving, TX. (The shop is still missed by all Irving quilters (it closed when TJ moved out of state.) TJ is currently designing, teaching, marketing a line of patterns, and studying to become a certified quilt appraiser.

Mystery Member of the Month
By Joy Hale
How well do you know your fellow guild members? Here's the March mystery:
1. She has five children but is still anxiously awaiting grandchildren.
2. She was born in Texas but spent her young years in Shreveport, Louisiana.
3. She might possibly faint at the sight of her own blood!
4. She deserves a medal for working with lawyers for 21 years!!!!
5. She has a sweet love for Jesus.
6. She loves machine quilting/piecing and really "happy" colors.
7. Her fabric stash is neatly catalogued by color!!

Cleaning House
This note is related to the 1st quarter challenge 'Out with the Old, In with the New.'
I moved recently. While packing and hauling and now unpacking, I have come to the realization that I have way too much stuff. I have decided that it is time to get rid of so many things. My dad once told me that each time a buy a new item and bring it into the house, I need to get rid of a like item that I already have. This has been very tough for me, I am a pack rat. Clothes, books, Rubbermaid containers, CDs, towels, you name it I have more than I need. So, while I am unpacking I am also sorting (why I didn't do this before I moved we'll never know!).
Then I came to my fabric and, of all my stuff, I probably had more fabric than anything else. As I was packing, I found fabrics that I don't remember when or where they came from. I have fabrics that are the exact same pattern and color that were purchased two or three different times without realizing it. I found groups of fabric that I purchased for a specific purpose and now can't remember what that project was, guess I'll have to come up with a new one. I have thought about sorting through my fabrics and giving some away, but I'm still a little selfish and not ready to part with any of it.
Instead of giving away fabric, I've decided that I need to store it better. I need to find a way to see what I have without having to dig into big purple tubs. I've read through books on how to design the perfect sewing space, but still haven't seen the one plan that makes me sit up and say 'that is what I need!' Instead, I have come across a lot of little ideas that I will have to try and fit together. One thing that I did read about and said, "that is a great idea" is to take my larger pieces of fabric (end of bolt sales, large remnants, etc.) and hang them using skirt hangers. This way I can hang them in my closet and sort by color. I'll have a rainbow of fabric in my closet.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to store the smaller pieces, drawers? Crates? Shelves? If you have a suggestion, I'm open. If I don't find a way to store it then I'll be stuck making an "out with the old quilt" that would be the size of a tent!!
Remember, we'll display our challenge quilts at the March meeting!! I'm looking forward to everyone's creations!
